چکیده
The ever-increasing demand for intelligent, automated, and connected mobility solutions pushes the development of innovative vehicular communications technology in framework sixth Generation (6G) cellular networks. A radical transformation on physical layer is planned, with a paradigm shift towards beam-based millimeter Waves or sub-Terahertz communications, which require precise beam pointing guaranteeing communication link, especially high mobility. key design aspect fast proactive Initial Access (IA) algorithm to select optimal be used. In this work, we investigate alternative IA techniques fasten current fifth-generation (5G) standard approach, targeting an efficient 6G design. First, discuss cooperative position-based schemes that rely position information. Then, motivated by intuition non-uniform distribution directions due road topology constraints, two Probabilistic Codebook (PCB) prioritized beams. first one, PCBs are built leveraging historical traffic information, while second use Hough Transform over digital map extract dominant directions. We also show information coming from angular probability allows designing codebook quantization, reducing degradation performances compared uniform one. Numerical simulation realistic scenarios shows PCB-based selection outperforms 5G terms number trials, performance comparable methods, without requiring signaling sensitive

Statistical Approaches for Initial Access in mmWave 5G Systems
mmWave communication systems overcome high attenuation by using multiple antennas at both the transmitter and the receiver to perform beamforming. Upon entrance of a user equipment (UE) into a cell a scanning procedure must be performed by the base station in order to find the UE, in what is known as initial access (IA) procedure. In this paper we start from the observation that UEs are more li...
متن کاملUse Cases, Requirements, and Design Considerations for 5G V2X
Ultimate goal of next generation Vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication systems is enabling accident-free cooperative automated driving that uses the available roadway efficiently. To achieve this goal, the communication system will need to enable a diverse set of use cases, each with a specific set of requirements. We discuss the main use case categories, analyze their requirements, and com...

Millimeter wave (mmWave) communications is one of the key technologies for future 5th generation (5G) wireless networks. In this paper, we investigate the problem of medium access control (MAC) in mmWave networks. We develop a frame-based scheduling directional MAC protocol, termed FDMAC, to achieve the goal of leveraging collision-free concurrent transmissions to fully exploit spatial reuse in...
